The Cage

The Cage is one of the most famous street basketball courts in the world. Officially named ‘The Courts on West 4th Street’, it is located in the heart of the West Village in New York City and often draws a large crowd of both tourists and local spectators on the sidewalk outside the fence. Once you step inside, however, it is a different world. Regulars show up every day to play, make jokes and trash talk. The Cage has its own heroes and authorities and the community around the court is tied together by something bigger than sport.
