The Wall Street

Wall Street might be the most famous street in the world. The eight-block-long street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in New York City is well known for being the center of american stockbroking. The Street is home to the world’s two largest stock exchanges; the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. Over time, Wall Street has become the symbol of the American economy.

In 2008, when the financial crisis hit the world, the images of recently unemployed brokers with moving boxes standing like statues on the street, became the symbol of the world’s crisis.

Later came the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement against economic inequality. It spread around the world and continued for years to make demonstrations and statements against the financial world.

Several Hollywood movies have been playing out their drama on this 800 meter long street in the heart of New York. Wall Street will forever be a part of American history. As life goes on among tourist and occupants in sleeping bags, it is business as usual for the well dressed stockbrokers.
